I installed a new SSD on my 2011 MacBook Pro. Everything is working great except my Office software which requires the product key. I do not have the packaging etc as the software came preinstalled. Where/how can I get a new product key? I tried to talk to Microsoft and the call center wanted to remote in to my computer...not really comfortable with that as I could not confirm that they really worked for Microsoft. I still have the old HD if that would help.
I tried this. The lady on the phone just kept telling me I needed the product key. I tried to explain that was exactly the problem I had...I no longer have the product key. Her answer was I needed to call Apple.......
I don't know who were were talking to but you did not get good advice. Call the activation number again. Last time I did it the auto activation process gave me a new product key without any problems. Maybe Microsoft
Does that mean Office was a preinstall option when you bought the laptop new? If so, the product key might be on some of the documents related to the original purchase, like a printed or email receipt. See if you still have any of that in your files or email archives.
