The Adicts came from Ipswich on the east coast of England, dressed in white in an amalgam of The Joker and Clockwork Orange imagery. They made a big impact in the UK, entering the national charts with their single on Sire Records - who insisted they change their name to ADX (or The Fun Adicts when on Children's TV!) With catchy, glam-punk singalong tunes and theatrical shows, The Adicts continue to grow their audience and regularly tour the USA, UK and Europe.
But then we found the tape. A quarter inch reel in a plain white cardboard box, hiding on a shelf in the attic. My Dad explained how it came to exist: He found some friends (acquaintances really) who had a band and some equipment. They setup in my grandparents living room where the upright piano was, and he invited Fred over to record some of his songs with the band backing him up. Invited him over, to play loud music, in his bosss living room. Sounds like something I would have done. The idea was that maybe if there were some recordings of Fred that he could use them to get booked on the nascent college blues-revival circuit, but it wasnt to be.

In 1968 The Rolling Stones returned to their blues roots on Beggars Banquet, which was immediately acclaimed as one of their landmark achievements. A strong acoustic Delta blues flavor colors much of the material, particularly Prodigal Son and No Expectations. Basic rock n roll is not forgotten with Street Fighting Man and Sympathy For The Devil. The lyrical bite of the material ensured the albums place as one of the top blues-based records of all time.Exclusive to Record Store Day 2023, this LP is pressed on grey, blue, black and white swirl vinyl as an ode to the lyric a swirling mass of grey, blue, black and white, from Salt Of The Earth, as performed in The Rolling Stones Rock And Roll Circus. Featuring the original album artwork and an original window display poster.
A complex cocktail made with Bourbon, Dormaine de Canton, sour mix, and garnished with a skewer of alternating pieces of candied ginger and blueberries. Johnny Depp has specific taste. Fun drinking game idea: Drink one of these for every Tim Burton movie that stars Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.
Best New Artist winners the Zac Brown Band struck a patriotic chord by opening a country-laced medley with "America The Beautiful." Leon Russell, resplendent at the piano with his long white beard, then joined in for "Dixie Lullaby." Brown, the band's huge-voiced singer, closed the medley with a feel-good acoustic blast of their No. 1 country hit "Chicken Fried." He capped the performance with a fiery solo on his classical guitar, calling to mind a pair of dueling banjos. What was clear, though, was that few musicians would want to engage in a duel with this guitarist.
Girl groups continued to reign in the early part of the 2000s. A number of 2000s girl groups formed on television as part of reality programming, with U.K. sensation Girls Aloud forming on the ITV show "Popstars: The Rivals" and Danity Kane both forming and developing over three seasons of Sean Puffy Combs' "Making The Band." TV acted as a great launching pad for these pop acts, as fans were often emotionally invested in the group's success from watching the show so when a new single dropped, they were quick to get on board. 041b061a72
